"Small Town Charm, Big City Character"

Tiemeyer Apartments is the vision of our owners Trent & Donna Tiemeyer. All of the apartments are family-owned and operated while being managed by Donna’s daughter Jessica Blevins. All of the construction and maintenance is handled by Donna’s "Tiemeyer Construction", meaning you also get in-house repairs from one of the dedicated staff of maintenance technicians. While working in construction and renovating homes, Trent and Donna realized that too many times a small town school closes, and too many times the buildings are left to rot. Although they had been renting homes for over 20 years, Trent had always wanted to add an apartment building to what they offer and Donna had always wanted to own and operate a nice wedding venue. Buying the Farragut school met both of those dreams.

 

The Farragut school was purchased in 2017 and soon after, construction began. As apartments were completed, they became available to rent, and people began to move in. The Waterfalls venue was completed and opened in 2019, offering an event space for not just weddings, but events of all types, along with a hair and nail salon. We are still adding apartments to the building, with an entire third floor of Airbnb-style rentals planned for the future. A weight room and gym are also on the current roadmap. 

 

In 2021, an opportunity arose to take this same concept and apply it to the old Chantry Elementary School in Malvern, IA. The building was purchased in 2021, with construction starting soon after. Several apartments have already been completed, and moved into, with only a few left to build.

Repurposing History in Southwest Iowa

History is important, and it is disappearing all the time. No one knows this better than a small rural town. When a school closes, the building may be torn down or left to rot. We choose to think differently and to repurpose these longtime community cornerstones into something with new life. We choose to keep these buildings alive by making them into living spaces or event spaces, while keeping the history alive in the community.
